First off, I want to thank all who have taken the time to visit and read this blog.
I have decided to discontinue using this blog and return to just using my original blog which will be posted the same way this one has been, with one difference- the name. This one was McCoy's Artworks-Jonelle T. McCoy, the other has been changed to now read Jonelle T. McCoy- McCoy's Artworks. Same, just different order of name.
I have quite a few other blogs I post on, Oklahoma, equine, western, abstract, contemporary, whimsical etc. Plus there is the blog from my website you can visit here Jonelle McCoy blog
Again, thank you for your faith, loyalty and participation. Without you, my dose of sunshine would be a lot dimmer. Be blessed!

A long time favorite of many I had a love/hate relationship with. Took me three days after I finished it to warm up to it, and that warmth just grew and grew. I had it professionally framed in bright yellow and red which set it off beautifully. Shown, it won high awards. It was my husbands favorite and he requested I keep it to hang for our personal enjoyment for a quite awhile, then I convinced him to let it be sold since he found a new favorite of my work to hang. This vibrant and colorful acrylic painting can be seen for purchase by visiting the Kasum Contemporary Fine Art gallery here
Sometimes life tosses us a curve ball that at first we think is a bad throw, but it's just an angle to get around, not a straight path. I still have trouble getting past some of those angles, but that makes life interesting, don't you think?

I can feel it! The world is ready to burst open and come back to life!

There has been days of rain, water puddles everywhere, ponds filled to overflowing, green is showing up, flowers are blooming, trees are budding and some have flowered. Growth, and new life bursting and blooming everywhere! Oh how I love Spring! The color comes back, the sun shines longer, the days get warmer- everything about this time of year delights me! I was even surprised by the appearance of a crocus, I haven't seen one of those bloom in years at my farm.

Do you feel this way too? Is this your favorite time of year? Indeed, each season has it's pros and cons. Along with the warmer weather comes storms, so far the rain has been gentle, but look out, it will get dicey soon here in Oklahoma- but that's a subject for another time. For now I'll just put on my muck boots and who knows, maybe I'll revisit a childhood activity of finding rain runoff and changing the way it flows. Ahhhh..... the simple things, the wonderful things.

© "Gold Leaf"

This painting is an interesting blend of several techniques, uniting acrylic paint with acrylic texture medium for the raised lines and using acrylic spray paints with both positive and negative stencil shapes to make the leaves. I leaned a bit stronger on my scenic painting techniques and style to create this one.
Here where I am (central Oklahoma) there aren't any sugar maple trees like where I grew up in Upstate NY. Their shape is a strong trigger of nostalgia for my years in that area. This painting's bold design and creative use of the negative space brings it all together for a strong finished piece. Lastly, the limited color palette completes the whole concept supporting the idea and the name.
"Gold Leaf" is painted on a 36"x36"x1.5" gallery wrap canvas, and is available at the Kasum Contemporary Fine Art gallery in OKC. Contact Tony for more info here

© "Love Makes the World go Round"

Valentines day has a special meaning to me beyond the obvious, a day to celebrate love. It was in the parking lot of a Hardy's, inside my Toyota truck 25 years ago, that I first kissed my husband. I didn't know that he was bound and determined to have me as his wife, I was just enjoying spending time with him. And here we are, working towards our 14th anniversary later this fall.
The painting showcased here is also the start of a love story. It was commissioned as an engagement gift from the gentleman to his girlfriend. The actual painting has their names painted on the heart, but I kept the image before they were added for my public displaying of the piece. It was very well received and I love the meaning behind the painting- I love carousel horses, and love can make you go around and around and makes you dizzy with stars in your eyes, and it also has up days and it has down days- sort of like the plucking of petals off of a flower. She love me, she loves me not etc. They did end up marrying, she said yes. A happy ending, for them and for me- hurrah!

Currently I have 2 personal blogs plus my website blog found on www.jonellemccoy.com. Then besides that are about 8 other blogs for equine, abstract, whimsical, contemporary and state etc- you get my drift I'm sure- it's too many! Well, not really since the exposure is wonderful, but yes because I find myself lacking the time to manage them all. I don't have the budget to have someone else do it for me (yet) so what I'm thinking about is dropping my personal Jonelle T. McCoy blog even though I've had it longer and keeping this one, my McCoy's Artworks blog, and also dropping one of the state blogs that has very little activity to start with. So for those of you who are subscribed to follow the other blog, I'm sorry to take it away, but you can do that here- or subscribe to my website newsletter and watch that blog.
What's nice about this problem is the source- I'm BUSY. Busy with lots of creative activity! So there will be lots to see very soon. I will be finishing up the set I've got going for delivery this month to Kasum Contemporary Fine Art gallery in OKC and some commissions to enjoy working on after that, and some H'arts for my newsletter subscribers Valentine's special. What's the special you ask? Sign up for the newsletter on my website and I'll forward it to you!
So for now- I'm signing off, it's late, I have brushes to clean and paints to put up for the night. Happy creating starts again tomorrow!

I am in LOVE with the palomino horse coat color, and the darker and richer the gold, the more I like it. I have a lovely and very sweet paso fino mare I rescued who is wheaten color in winter, but when she sheds out for summer, he coat dapples and deepens considerably to almost being chocolate. This painting was inspired by my coffee one morning, the creamer in it gave it this lovely golden caramel color, and I painted this as a golden palomino paso fino stallion. And I called it "Coffee with Creme". In horse coat color language, the gene that makes the horse golden colored is the creme gene. So there is my fun little word twist to the paintings title. I love doing that too! Painted with acrylic on a standard unframed 24"x20" canvas.
